Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 250 g butter
  • 250 ml milk
  • 200 g sugar
  • 500 g flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Filling

  • 1 kg fresh strawberries
  • 500 g full-fat sour cream
  • 50 g sugar
  • 10 ml lemon juice
  • 30 g cornstarch
  • 1 vanilla pod — just the seeds

Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Line a deep baking tray (roasting pan) with parchment paper.

Place the butter, sugar, and eggs in a bowl and mix for about 30 seconds until smooth and creamy. Add the milk, flour, baking powder, and salt, then mix again for another 20 seconds until the batter is well combined. Pour the batter into the prepared tray and wash the mixing bowl.

Cut the strawberries in half and distribute them evenly over the surface of the cake. Bake for 45–50 minutes at 180 °C. Let the cake cool, then slice and serve.

Filling

Place the sour cream, lemon juice, sugar, and cornstarch in a bowl and mix for about 10 seconds until smooth. Spread the mixture evenly over the batter in a uniform layer.
