Ingredients

  • 120 g cheese — Gouda or Cheddar
  • 225 g quark cheese
  • 120 ml milk
  • 85 ml olive oil
  • half a teaspoon sugar
  • 285 g flor
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 75 g bacon — cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt or heavy cream
  • sunflower seeds — for sprinkling on top

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Place a large baking sheet on a baking tray and set it aside.
  2. In a large bowl, grate the cheese using a coarse grater. Add the quark, milk, oil, sugar, flour, salt, and baking powder, and mix until well combined. Add the bacon and mix/knead again until all ingredients are incorporated.
  3. Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces, shape them into biscuits, and place them about 2 cm apart on the prepared baking sheet. Using a brush, brush the biscuits with yogurt and sprinkle sunflower seeds on top. Bake for 20 minutes at 200°C (400°F) until they are lightly golden. Serve warm or at room temperature.
